I am a Federal employee & have been on furlough since 12/22/2018 [thankfully it finally ended and I’ll be going back to work Monday!!!]. My 5th furlough project was installing more cubbie storage in our dining room. I briefly thought about building something, but the wood alone would have cost more than the prefab cubbie units!

As some of you know, I am a Federal employee – I have worked for the Dept. of Commerce since 1993. I have been on furlough since 12/22/2018. I’ve been keeping busy with projects and deep cleaning. My first “furlough project” was to refinish the small 3-drawer cupboard in the living room.
I completed 16 DIY projects in 2018 – waaaaaaaaay more than I thought! Cool 🙂
Back in September I made my first stained glass mobile. It was a gift for one of my German relatives who got married over the summer. I can’t seem to stop being enamored with glass circles. Cutting them, connecting them, etc. – I do hope someday to branch out into other stuff!
In August 2016 I shared my mission to virtually bicycle across the US from Ipswich, MA, to the Seattle Aquarium. I am logging all the miles I ride on the recumbent bike at the YMCA & the miles I walk into myvirtualmission.com. I have logged 1,500 miles so far, and reached 50% of my mission.
Ever since installing an automatic cat fountain in the downstairs bathroom last month, Darwin has been using it constantly [HOORAY!]. But the motion sensor is so sensitive the fountain turns on anytime we move past the bathroom door. Jim suggested installing a cat door so we could keep the bathroom door closed.
