Dumbass Strikes Again
Or “How I broke our garbage disposal the same exact way I broke it 5 months ago” *SIGH*. And once again it was hubby who came to the rescue!

As you read in Part 1, I ran into some issues with my first attempt at making a stained glass sailboat, including the bottom looking like a canoe, trying to work with solid copper wire, the entire boat falling apart because the solid copper wire was too heavy, and finally the entire thing falling apart again because I soldered the hell out of the seams to the point of insanely overheating them. Oops.
Back in the 1990’s, dad had a catboat. When I started working with stained glass Dad asked if I’d someday think about making him a stained glass sailboat. I decided to surprise him for Christmas this year and make him a stained glass catboat.
Today I heard a huge crash. Â I ran out into the front hall and saw one of the downstairs hall cat platforms had ripped right out of the wall. Â Apparently when Birdie was leaping off it onto a higher platform it was the last straw for the 6 wall anchors and the whole shelf ripped right out [thankfully she was fine!]
Almost exactly a year ago I was busy making stained glass stars for the holidays. I decided to have fun with a few of the smaller ones and decorated them like snowflakes. This year I decided to turn more into snowflakes. I grabbed 5 of last year’s stars & added wire swirls to 2 of them, nested circles to another, and wire triangles to 2 more!
Today I decided to winterize the catio. I thought about doing it last year but never did. It’s became sort of a necessity because the cat door in the dining room window keeps blowing open creating a very cold draft. I bought some clear plastic tarp at Home Depot and used my Dewalt power stapler to attach it to the catio and connector.
Back in August I shared my mission to virtually bicycle across the US from Ipswich to the Seattle Aquarium. I am logging all the miles I ride on the recumbent bike at the YMCA into myvirtualmission.com and each time I log new miles my virtual icon moves across the map.
Last year for Christmas & my birthday hubby bought me packs of stained glass from Delphi. Each kit came with a variety of different colored and patterned stained glass sheets. Some are really cool and some are quite unique. I have 4 sheets of what I call “Christmas glass” – it’s clear, red, and green. I decided to do a Christmas project with it this year.
Ever since I conquered 10 annoying projects in 10 days, I’ve wanted to remove 10 items from each room. Not for any real reason, we don’t have THAT much clutter, but everyone has some. And by remove I don’t necessarily mean toss. The majority got tossed, but some stuff was just in the wrong room for whatever reason.
