Oahu, Hawaii 2016 – Part 3

I spent most of Day 7 in bed, but on Day 8 we hiked up to see Manoa Falls. The waterfall wasn’t much to see, but the hike was beautiful! And since hikes are always better with a hint of danger, the sign at the entrance said not to drink the water or even get it into your mouth or you could catch Leptospirosis. Yummy.

Oahu, Hawaii 2016 – Part 1

On 4/2, Hubby and I flew to Oahu, Hawaii. We’d never been to Oahu before – our previous trips have taken us to the Big Island in 2014 & Maui in 2015. Oahu is the most populated Hawaiian island, with about 1M residents. It includes the state capital of Honolulu and famous landmarks like Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head crater. Our first few days were spent swimming, relaxing, and visiting the zoo.

Maui, Hawaii 2015 – Part 4

I promise I will be posting about actual DIY stuff soon! For the past 5 weeks I have been fully engulfed in a manic frenzy of epic proportions to get all my photos from 1987-2015 cataloged and pared down. Here is my final Hawaii post, covering surf lessons, sea turtles & geckos.

Maui, Hawaii 2015 – Part 3

Jim and I traveled to Maui, Hawaii last April. I posted about our first 5 days back in May but never got around to posting about the end of our trip. Now that I’ve spent about 40 hours organizing my digital photo collection from 2001-2015, I finally took the time to go through the rest of the Maui photos. Here are the highlights from our 6th & 7th day on the beautiful island of Maui.

Maui, Hawaii 2015 – Part 1

Finally, over 2 weeks after getting home from Maui, Hawaii, I present you with my first post, which covers days 1, 2 & 3. It discusses our sort-of botched snorkeling trip, our discovery of a hidden Japanese temple, and a freak rain storm that trapped us at the hotel for the last few hours of day 3!

Big Island, Hawaii 2014 – Part 3

Sorry for the long delay between posts – my computer died last weekend and work has been C·R·A·Z·Y with a capital K. Now I’m sick with some kind of major allergy attack or cold [there’s also a small chance I inhaled an inchworm hanging from a tree on my walk last week, which could account for all the coughing, but the more likely scenario is I’ve caught the blight that’s been taking out my coworkers at record speed.

Big Island, Hawaii 2014 – Part 2

After our long road trip to Hilo and back, we decided to chill out in Kona for the next few days. We relaxed in waterfront parks, dined in waterfront restaurants, took daily naps, snorkeled in an almost-enclosed, coral-filled natural bay where sea turtles feed [so cool!], played in the waves at our favorite beach, and slept 10-12 hours a night! All that relaxing tuckered us out! We also toured a local coffee plantation and visited a local honey farm.
