A Visit From Pop & Susie
In mid September, Jim’s Dad and stepmom came to visit us for a few days. It was a wonderful visit and we had a lot of fun doing touristy things and eating wonderful food.

Since I’ve been sick for 12 weeks, I haven’t really had anything to blog about, so I’ve been writing you a story instead. This is my 2nd foray into short story writing. This story was inspired by something hubby and I witnessed from our backyard on October 8th. So I guess you can say this story is “Based on Actual Events” 🙂
About 6 weeks ago, after being sick for 6 weeks [I’m finally starting to feel better, although I’m still way too tired] I decided I needed to do something DIY-ish. Birdie was having a love-hate relationship with her litter boxes and usually left me daily “presents” on the girl cave floor. Turns out it was the litter not the box, but I didn’t know that then.
For the past 5 years Marini Farm in Ipswich has hosted the “Muddy Leprechaun”, a 5k obstacle run through their muddy fields. Every year I’ve wanted to do it, but since I don’t run, I never pursued it. Until last year when I decided “who cares if I don’t run, I’m doing it!” Hubby runs, so last Fall I asked him about doing this year’s mud run with me, but he wasn’t interested. So I asked Abbie [who doesn’t run either] and she said “YES!!!”
It SUCKS. No energy for projects. Barely enough energy to go to work and do a good job. I’ve had a sore throat for 36 days now [that’s 5 weeks + 1 day]! HOWEVER, being sick for 5 weeks did NOT stop me from competing in a 5k mud run last weekend 😀
To be fair, this was my first attempt using caulk where the results have to look “nice”. I caulked the storm windows a few years ago [and made a mess], and caulked a few seams in the basement cage last month [and made a mess]. But last weekend I tried to caulk the kitchen counters and… made a mess.
After making Jessica’s star, I finally converted my friend Christyne’s spectacular piece of beach glass into a pendant for her. She found it on the beach last December.
A couple of weeks ago my coworker & friend Diane heard I work with stained glass. She had tried it years ago and is thinking about taking it up again. I offered to go over the basics with her if she came over. So 3 Sunday’s ago she came by and we spent a couple of hours playing with stained glass 🙂
