Furlough Project #4 – Paint Jars
I am a Federal employee & have been on furlough since 12/22/2018. I’ve been keeping busy with projects and deep cleaning. My 4th furlough project was transferring all of our paint from cans to mason jars.

I am a Federal employee & have been on furlough since 12/22/2018. I’ve been keeping busy with projects and deep cleaning. My 3rd furlough project was replacing the dryer vent in the laundry room. This project wasn’t very exciting, but needed to be done.
I am a Federal employee & have been on furlough since 12/22/2018. For my 2nd furlough project I built additional shelving for our front hall closet. This is something I’ve been meaning to do since 2015!
As some of you know, I am a Federal employee – I have worked for the Dept. of Commerce since 1993. I have been on furlough since 12/22/2018. I’ve been keeping busy with projects and deep cleaning. My first “furlough project” was to refinish the small 3-drawer cupboard in the living room.
I completed 16 DIY projects in 2018 – waaaaaaaaay more than I thought! Cool 🙂
Ever since installing an automatic cat fountain in the downstairs bathroom last month, Darwin has been using it constantly [HOORAY!]. But the motion sensor is so sensitive the fountain turns on anytime we move past the bathroom door. Jim suggested installing a cat door so we could keep the bathroom door closed.
For a long time I’ve wanted to replace our ugly, old, stained [and sometimes painted] brass hinges and ugly gold doorknobs with silver. I’ve never been a yellow gold person. Or brass. I finally started this project the first week of September before my trip to Germany.
Darwin has always preferred to drink his water from the downstairs bathroom sink. So we have finally wizened up and installed a motion sensor cat fountain for him which he loves!
Last weekend I had to take the squirrel platform down. The issue was mice. Stupid, hangry, devious, mice. They found a hole under the squirrel platform leading into our basement and started ripping out hunks of insulation.
This project took way longer than I expected and was full of harassing little mishaps, but it’s finally DONE! I started July 26th and finished August 26th.
