Tonsillectomy TMI

Just what you want to read during the 3rd Nor’Easter of March 🙂 If you are easily grossed out, please skip this post and just know that the tonsillectomy I had in November seems to have cured all my ailments and I’m back to 100% 🙂

Basement Flooding – Part 6

So we had 2 power outages last week.  And it totally never occurred to me that our sump pumps wouldn’t work… until my mom mentioned it.  That was a total DUH moment for me!  In the 6 years I’ve lived here we’ve never had a power outage lasting longer than an hour or 2.  And never during a record-breaking storm surge.

Basement Flooding – Part 5

I felt like the Little Dutch Boy today. Didn’t he stick his finger in a dike? Boy does THAT sound WRONG. But I kinda did it earlier today. We got slammed with a very wet and windy Nor’Easter today, with a 3 foot storm surge. I was very worried our basement would flood again!

An Update on the “Fish Babies”

They are definitely no longer babies!  Up until recently our 9 remaining “babies” were all girls, but a few days ago one turned into a boy and 2 more appear to be heading that way.  Apparently that happens with Molly fish, within the first 6 months or so, which is why I’ve been VERY vigilant.  We don’t need more fish babies!

Spray Painting in the Snow

Today was unseasonably warm – it got up to 48° which meant I could spray paint the 4 remaining door panels for the AC boxes – HOORAY!!!  Painting the 2 green ones by hand was tedious and took hours and made my hand cramp up from jabbing a dry brush into every single hole to make sure no paint was stuck.

AC Cabinets – Part 3

Currently 2 of the 3 AC xox frames I made last March are wrapped in plastic to keep the cold out.  I never knew how much air blew in through our [in-wall] ACs until last week during the bitter freeze.  Brrrr!  It made me realize we need insulated AC doors asap so between yesterday & today I built all 3 sets.
