2023 In Photos

As always, trying to get caught up with my blog… It appears I last posted quarterly photos at the end of  2022… OMG… that was almost 3 years ago…

Here are my favorite photos from ALL OF 2023:

Winter light; poor old Birdie both on & under heating pads [RIP]:

Our brief stint with a “bookcase” fish tank; Birdie & Darwin being nice to each other:

I love my chicken feet socks; the dam in a mid-March snow storm:

My bestie from when I was 6 years old found me on Facebook after I’d been searching for her for YEARS, Birdie going to the vet for her monthly pain shot:

Our first trip to an Airbnb, to Lincolnville, ME.  We chose it because it came with 3 happy goats:

A poppy plant I bought myself; a little garden frog who got stuck in my bucket:

I cleaned and organized the tool wall rack in the laundry room off the kitchen; spring flowers:

Birdie enjoying a nap on her heated blanket; spring flowers:

Ipswich River tree; the view from my mom’s deck before a storm:

My hibiscus plants flowered all summer:

We flew to Kansas for my father-in-law’s and his wife’s 83rd birthday party [they had been planning a “BIG 80” party, but COVID put the kybosh on that]:

In August, I spotted a juvenile otter swimming helplessly against the flow beneath the dam for 2 days before calling in IRWA [the Ipswich River Watershed Association] who in turn called in MA DMF [the MA Division of Marine Fisheries].  They tried to net him, but we ended up using a have-a-heart trap.  I heard it go “bang” at 10 that night [it was diagonally below our bedroom], and called IRWA, who came right over.  We fed the poor little otter some herring left behind by DMF, then released him upriver:

My turtle rescue hobby started to take off during the summer of 2023:

Flicka [dark grey with white blaze], Coconut [mostly white with grey splotch on face], & Pi [white and beige with 3.14 beige spots on her back] [all have since passed & we have not gotten new rats]:

A 2nd trip to the same Airbnb in Lincolnville, ME, in the fall:

Ipswich Illuminated 2023:

Our neighbor’s back yard, a watersnake in the driveway:

I drove by my friends’ house at Halloween and loved their deco; outside our house during the holidays:
