I’ve Been Sick for 5 Weeks – MEH!

It SUCKS.  No energy for projects.  Barely enough energy to go to work and do a good job.  I’ve had a sore throat for 36 days now [that’s 5 weeks + 1 day]!  And headaches, nausea, dizziness, lack of appetite, low-grade fever [99.4, which for me his high b/c I’m normally a solid 97.3], and extreme exhaustion [been going to bed at 7:00 every night].  I’ve only missed 2 days of work because even though I feel crappy, it’s never quite enough to justify calling in sick.  I’ve been to my primary care office 3 times in the past 5 weeks, and yesterday, FINALLY, the Dr. I saw was like “wait – you’ve been here three times, for the same thing, and no one has treated you yet?!?”.  NOPE!  They did do 2 rounds of strep tests, and blood work, but everything was negative [strep, mono, CMV, Lyme disease, etc.].  So he put me on a “z-pack” which is a 5 day course of Azithromycin.  This is day 2.  I still have a sore throat and exhaustion [I got home from work today at 4:00, fell into bed and slept for 1½ hours until hubby woke me up].  Hopefully I’ll feel better by Saturday when the z-pack is done.

HOWEVER.  Being sick for 5 weeks did NOT stop me from competing in a 5k mud run last weekend 😀  Here’s 2 shots from the end of the race, which I stole from the race’s webpage.  Ab & I coming out of the last obstacle [a belly-crawl through a mud puddle under an orange net], and me collapsed on the ground after the race.  Ab’s on the left holding Claire’s hand [Meara, Claire’s twin, is offscreen].  Claire appears to be directing some Jedi mind power healing energy in my direction:

Abbie & I have been training since last Winter for this and I wasn’t about to bail on it!  I’ve always wanted to do a mud run and IT. WAS. AWESOME!  But exhausting.  And amazing and fun and insane and messy and exhilarating!  I’ll be posting about the mud run soon in a separate post.  I just wanted to give you all an update on why you haven’t heard from me for a while.  I haven’t had any energy to work on my chameleon mural or my AC cabinet project.  I haven’t even finished caulking the kitchen counter!  I have about 5′ to go…  All in good time.  Health is the most important thing.  If the antibiotics don’t help, I have an appointment with an ENT doctor in 2 weeks.

There are some fun videos on my YouTube channel that hubby took at the mud run.  You can view them HERE.
