I <3 My Kindle Phone App!

This post exists simply because on a weekly basis I am blown away by the Amazon Kindle app for my Windows phone.  And I was blown away by it again yesterday, so I felt compelled to write about it [this blog thing is getting addictive… HA!].  Most of you probably already use the Kindle app, but bear with me.

Some backstory:  I was a little late getting on the smart phone bandwagon [yes, I am 42, not 82… wait, am I 42 or 41? *awkward internal debate*… anyway, moving on].  When I met my husband in late 2011, I still didn’t have one.  He was appalled.  He got me set up with one almost immediately.  Smart phone:  life changing.  I was also late getting on the “apps” bandwagon [apps? who needs the apps?].  But every now and then I’d turn on my phone and stare in wonder at some new app my husband had downloaded for me, like TheWeatherChannel, iHeartRadio, Flixster, & OneNote [OneNote rocks if you’re like me and go brain dead walking into any and all stores – it holds all your shopping lists for easy consultation – genius!].  The apps:  life changing.

I JUST CLICK THE ORANGE SQUARE ON MY PHONE AND IT BRINGS ME TO THE AMAZON KINDLE SCREEN WHERE I CAN ACCESS MY BOOKS:

Last year my husband downloaded the Amazon Kindle app to my phone, but I didn’t pay any attention to it [don’t ask me why – I have no answer].  But then I started getting weekly allergy shots again, and found myself sitting in their waiting room each week for upwards of 90 minutes [they make you wait at least 25 minutes after getting injected, in case of an adverse reaction, and the busier they are, the longer you wait].  Every week I’d stare at the same selection of snore inducing magazines [Family Circle, Woman’s Day, Parenting, Allergy Weekly – I mean, really?], roll my eyes, & sigh.

Then one day, as I sat there in abject boredom, I remembered the Kindle app.  And I clicked on it, and there were all my books!  I clicked on the book I was currently reading at home on my Kindle reader, and it asked me if I wanted to sync to my current location.  *blink blink*… sync?  current location?  I clicked yes, and there was the page I’d just read last night in bed – right there on my phone!  Mind blown.  So now every week, instead of wanting to claw my eyes out with boredom, I can tuck right into a good book and get lost for however long I have to wait.  Amazon Kindle app:  life changing.
